Pilates

 

Group Pilates classes are suitable for all fitness levels and will teach you how to;

 

  • Be aware of your own body’s position and movements. Learn how to engage a particular muscle group to perform an exercise safely. Learn how to sense when your body needs balance to transfer weight during an exercise and be able to steady the rest of your body to prevent injury.

 

  • Strengthen the muscle tissue around your joints to increase resilience. The stronger your muscle tissue is, the more stable your joints will be. Joint stability will support a better range of movement increasing your flexibility and reducing the risk of injury.

 

  • Strengthen the deep stabilising muscles that support your back, spine and pelvis. These muscles are small and have a limited range of movement. By exercising these muscles, your body will benefit from a more evenly balanced core between the large and small muscles and provide stability to your back, spine and pelvis..

 

  • Improve your posture by strengthening your core muscles. Whether you are standing, sitting or lying down, a good posture will keep your skeletal bones and joints correctly positioned to ensure your muscles work efficiently and allow the least amount of strain on your back, spine and pelvis.

 

  • Control your bodily position whilst moving or standing still. Strengthening your core muscles will give the ability to maintain a strong centre of gravity and support the overall structure of your body to help prevent falls or injury.

 

  • Increase the range of movement in your joints and muscles. Stretch and lengthen your muscles to allow them to reach their full potential more easily and prevent injury or problems with balance.

 

Aerobics

 

Group Aerobic classes are suitable for all fitness levels. Whatever your fitness goals are; weight loss, cardiovascular fitness, general health and wellbeing, then this is the class for you.

 

The structure of our Aerobic classes will provide;

 

  • Gentle warm-up to raise your pulse safely whilst gradually warming your muscles and mobilising your joints.

 

  • Upper and lower body pre-stretches to improve the flexibility of your warmed muscles and joints in preparation for more intense aerobic activity.

 

  • Aerobic routine of rhythmic and flowing choreography to create fun and enjoyment delivered in a format to allow sustained continuous activity to improve cardiovascular fitness and support weight loss.

 

  • Gentle cool-down to lower your pulse safely whilst gradually reducing the intensity of your aerobic activity.

 

  • Body conditioning to train and improve your muscle strength, tone and endurance.

Legs Bums & Tums (LBT)

 

Legs Bums & Tums classes are suitable for all fitness levels and are primarily designed to target muscles from the waist down.

 

Our classes go one step further by including some upper body exercises to provide a whole-body workout. If you are looking for a class to strengthen, tone and tighten your muscles, then this is the class for you.

 

The structure of our Legs Bums & Tums classes involves;

 

  • Gentle warm-up to raise your pulse safely whilst gradually warming your muscles and mobilising your joints.

 

  • Upper and lower body pre-stretches to improve the flexibility of your warmed muscles and joints in preparation for more intense exercise.

 

  • Exercises to strengthen, tone and tighten your upper and lower body muscles.

 

  • Gentle cool-down will lower your pulse safely whilst gradually reducing exercise intensity.

 

  • Flexibility and relaxation to end an intense and satisfying session.

 

Step Aerobics

 

Step Aerobics is suitable for all fitness levels. The class involves dance routines to music designed to start with basic steps that develop into more complex movement patterns to challenge your pace and reaction time. You will move up down and around your step using arm and leg sequences providing an all-over-body workout.

 

Whatever your fitness goals are; weight loss, cardiovascular fitness, general health and wellbeing, then this is the class for you.

 

The structure of our STEP Aerobic classes will provide;

 

  • Gentle warm-up to raise your pulse safely whilst gradually warming your muscles and mobilising your joints.

 

  • Upper and lower body pre-stretches to improve the flexibility of your warmed muscles and joints in preparation for more intense STEP activity.

1-2-1 Pilates Coaching

 

If you are interested in an exercise programme designed ‘just for you’ then contact us to book a 1-2-1 Pilates Coaching session.

 

We will work with you to develop an individual programme of SMART goals to help you achieve your personal targets.

 

The tailored programme is designed to maximise the benefits of the Pilates Principles which are fundamental to you performing exercises correctly and will teach you through a series of individual coaching sessions;

 

  • Alignment - how to position your body at the start of each exercise and hold this alignment throughout the movement.

 

  • Breathing - a technique called lateral breathing to allow your core muscles to remain engaged and reduce neck and shoulder tension during exercise.

 

  • Core-Centring - how to control your body during movement.

 

  • Concentration - how to focus your mind on the movement to be aware of your bodily position and the muscle group being actively worked.

 

  • Control - the technique of control to ensure the right muscle groups are being used and at the right time

 

  • Precision - perform exercises with accuracy and care.

How to book a fitness class...?

Ahead of your first class please complete a medical screening form called a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q).

 

For late bookings / drop-ins you can complete the form before the start of a class but please arrive 15 minutes early.

 

Please note:  if Doctors Clearance is required we will provide you with the relevant form (also available on our website) which will need to be completed before you can take part in one of our fitness classes.

What's the cost of a Group Fitness Class...?

 

 

Group fitness classes cost £8 per class.

 

We operate a pay-as-you-go system. Payment methods are:

  • Bank Transfer - please contact us for details

  • Cheque or cash - pay in person

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early if paying on the day

 

All equipment is provided, just bring water and a towel.

What happens if a class is cancelled...?

 

 

There may be occasions where due to unforeseen circumstances we have to cancel a scheduled class, for instance bad weather or illness.

 

If you have booked in advance or are a regular class member you will receive an email and text message when a class is cancelled.

 

A full refund will also be processed for those who have paid in advance.

If you are not able to attend a class you have booked then please contact us, providing a reason:

What is a PAR-Q and why is it required...?

 

PAR-Q is used throughout the fitness industry to assess your medical status and history.

 

Completion of a PAR-Q is mandatory and essential for your health, safety and wellbeing.

 

The PAR-Q form can be downloaded from our website, completed and returned electronically.

 

If you prefer we can send you the form by post - simply send us your address using the 'contact us' page on our website or send your contact details via email or text.

If your medical status changes whilst you are taking part in fitness classes you must inform us.

What is 1-2-1 Pilates Coaching...?

 

 

Our 1-2-1 Pilates Coaching sessions are design and tailored 'just for you'.

 

We will develop a bespoke programme for you using SMART goals to help you achieve your personal targets.

 

The initial consultation will involve an assessment of your health goals, range of mobility and posture. This consultation will take approximately 45 minutes and is provided free of charge.

 

At the end of the consultation we will recommend a course of tailored exercises with Sharon, our Fitness Instruction.  Fees will apply for 1-2-1 coaching.
